Prepare for a journey of discovery, delving into cultural history and awe-inspiring natural wonders. Arrive in the romantic harbour town of Hobart, where we’ll meet you on arrival and transfer you to your hotel. Afterwards, enjoy your selected Freedom of Choice activity. Choices: You may like to take a look behind the Cascade Brewery’s sandstone façade and admire the workings of this unique brewery. Or, you may choose to explore the thought-provoking Museum of Old & New Art (MONA). Alternatively, enjoy a historical guided walking tour.
Tonight, delight in a welcome dinner and drink with fellow travellers.

2 Russell Falls, Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, Strahan (B, D)
Discover the magic of Russell Falls in Mt Field National Park today, then continue to the World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. Visit The Wall in the Wilderness, before travelling via the mining town of Queenstown to Strahan. Tonight, savour dinner at View 42° Restaurant and Bar.

3 Strahan, Cradle Mountain (B, L, D)
After breakfast this morning, board the luxurious Spirit of the Wild for a cruise along the secluded wilderness highway, the Gordon River. From the comfort of the Captain’s Premier Upper Deck, glide across Macquarie Harbour and enter the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. Stopping at Heritage Landing, prepare for a guided rainforest walk.
Back on board, you’ll be treated to a delicious lunch of fresh Tasmanian produce before arriving at Tasmania’s World Heritage-listed Sarah Island. Here you’ll get a chilling insight into the cruelties of convict life as you explore the ruins of what was once a convict settlement. Cruise past Hells Gates then return to Strahan.
From here, set off by coach for the remarkable Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge, set right on the edge of Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park.

Today set out to explore Dove Lake with a friendly local guide, admiring the beauty of Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park.
Choices: Perhaps indulge in a wine and cheese tasting or learn about the flora and fauna of the region during a walk with a naturalist guide. Alternatively, enjoy a free afternoon then go searching for native animals on a night spotlight tour.
After admiring the beauty of Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, visit Waldheim Chalet, then enjoy your Freedom of Choice Sightseeing inclusion.

5 Stanley, Tarkine, Smithton (B, D)
Journey through the Tarkine region and stop at Sumac Lookout for views of the Arthur River. Today, travel to Stanley, set in the shadow of The Nut. Continue to the Julius River Forest Reserve for a rainforest walk and afternoon tea, including Tasmanian wine and cake made with locally produced honey. Later, head to Smithton.
Tonight, enjoy an exclusive Tasmanian fare dinner.

This morning you will visit Entally House, an enchanting historic homestead surrounded by splendid gardens. The house contains a magnificent collection of regency furniture and fine silver and its outbuildings include a chapel, coach house, stables and Australia’s oldest conservatory. Afterwards, travel to Cataract Gorge, a unique natural rock formation on the outskirts of the city. Follow the path along the river to explore the geological wonders and soak up the fresh Tasmanian air.

This morning enjoy your selected sightseeing activity. Afterwards, visit Josef Chromy, a northern winery that prides itself on celebrating Tasmanian grapes. The remainder of the afternoon will be enjoyed at your leisure. Choices: Perhaps discover the wonders of Seahorse World or see the elusive inhabitants of Platypus House in a unique indoor setting. Alternatively, embark on a historical journey as you enjoy a guided tour of the Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre. Or, embark on a fully guided tour of James Boag’s historic brewery, which concludes in a tasting.

8 Launceston, Bridestowe Lavender Estate, Freycinet National Park (B, D)
After visiting Bridestowe Lavender Estate, traverse Weldborough Pass, past forested hills and farmland, and stop at East Coast Natureworld to meet a Tasmanian devil. This evening, enjoy time at leisure. Today you’ll travel through the scenic wine-producing areas of northern Tasmania en route to the Bridestowe Lavender Estate. Here, take a tour of the distillery and sample unique lavender-infused fare.

After breakfast this morning, you’ll enjoy a guided walking tour along Cape Tourville, admiring the stunning coastal scenery. Tonight, savour a gourmet BBQ that showcases the finest regional produce, with views overlooking Coles Bay (weather permitting).

10 Freycinet National Park, Ross, Richmond, Hobart (B,)
Visit the historic towns of Ross and Richmond on your way to Hobart. Later, arrive in Tasmania’s capital for a guided discovery which takes you through the city’s Botanical Gardens and heritage district of Battery Point.

11 Hobart, Port Arthur (B)
Today, explore the Port Arthur Historic Site, Australia’s most intact, evocative and notorious convict prison, on a guided tour. See the famous sandstone Penitentiary then visit the Convict Church and Separate Prison. You’ll then step aboard a cruise around the Isle of the Dead and hear haunting stories about the convicts who were transported here from across the world and eventually buried there. Afterwards, you’ll see historic rock formations including the Tessellated Pavement, and Tasman Arch. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at Mures Upper Deck.

12 Depart Hobart (B)
This morning, walk the Salamanca Market and peruse the treasures of Tasmania at more than 300 stalls. Wander through the array of goods from hand-crafted jewellery and carved wooden trinkets to tantalising Tasmanian gin. Afterwards, bid a fond farewell to the Apple Isle. We say goodbye before we transfer you to the airport for your flight.
Any flights referred to are at the clients expense and not part of this package. Arrival and Departure transfers are included on first and last day or if booking pre/post tour accommodation listed hotel.
- Day 1 – Passengers with flights arriving between 9.30am and 1.30pm will be transferred from Hobart Airport by crew. If flights arrive outside these times please book the external transfer.
- Day 12 – Passengers with flights departing between 12.00pm and 5.00pm will be transferred to Hobart Airport by crew. If flights depart outside these times please book the external transfer.
Accommodation Pick Up and Drop Off
Complimentary pick-up and drop-off at any Hobart or Launceston CBD Hotel, depending on which location tour starts and finishes. The pickup are usually between 8.30-9.15 am. The time of pickup will be confirmed closer to departure depending on where other guests are staying. The Central Business District (CBD) is generally considered to be within a few blocks or a couple minutes drive from the Hobart city mall.
Airport drop-off can be arranged in advance but will incur an airport drop-off fee of $60.
For those guests who are concluding their tours in Hobart, an Airport drop-off can be arranged in advance but will incur an airport drop-off fee of $60. Please book flights departing no earlier than 8.30pm as we cannot guarantee arriving in time in the event of delays outside our control.
Airport drop-off are not offered for our 13 Day itinerary or any itineraries that conclude in Launceston city. We recommend taxi ‘s in these scenarios.
Accommodation Pre or Post Tour Options in Hobart or Launceston
Most guests choose to stay in Hobart at The Alabama Hotel, St Ives Apartments, RACV/RACT Hobart Apartment Hotel, ibis Styles Hobart, Salamanca Suites or The Henry Jones Art Hotel.
Most guests choose to stay in Launceston at Art Hotel on York, Ashcroft Apartments, Waratah on York, Hideaway on George, The Florance, TWOFOURTWO Boutique Apartments or the Peppers Silo Hotel Launceston, or similar. Hotels may vary from the itinerary due to circumstances beyond our control.
It is HIGHLY recommended that passengers take out travel insurance. Most claims arise from either personal or close-family illness before departure resulting in cancellation charges. How many Guests will be on Tour
The largest group we take in a vehicle is 15 passengers. The vehicle you will travel in depends on passenger bookings. There are 3 different size vehicles. ‘Maximum Passengers’ policy is:
- Toyota HiAce – Licensed to carry 14, no more than 11 passengers in this vehicle.
- Iveco Mini Bus Daily – Executive model. Licensed to carry 17 but we guarantee never more than 12 guests.
- Yutong Coach – Half size coach bus. Licensed to carry 23, no more than 15 passengers in this vehicle.
Generally, the weather over the tourist season is warm during the day and cool at night. It is recommended to pack a warm jacket for Tasmania regardless of the time of the year you are travelling.
- Digital camera or camcorder
- Walking shoes. Although most walking tracks are easy and established, good walking shoes will come in handy.
- A pair of jeans or similar, a pair of shorts in summer.
- Sunglasses, sun cream and a hat.
- A small torch if you want to search wildlife at night at Cradle Mountain.
- A raincoat or jacket
Most of the accommodation offer free Wi-Fi. It may be slower than you are used to due to the remote locations. Wi-Fi may only available when close to the reception building.
Mobile or Cell Phone Coverage
The only cell phone network that has reliable signal in most locations is TELSTRA network. Vodafone & Optus sim cards will usually have signal only in major cities or towns. Public phones are widely available, some have the option of payment on credit cards.
Booking Terms and Conditions
Be aware that some confirmed bookings are not refundable if cancelled, and also may not be transferable to another date or otherwise changed. Alternatively, a change may only be permissible subject to payment of an additional fee or charge. Your entitlement to a refund for cancelled bookings is subject to the relevant Supplier’s terms and conditions. Please note that if we are entitled to a service fee for placing a booking, we will remain entitled to this fee if you cancel the booking or the Supplier fails to provide you with the Product for any reason (other than our default), including in an event of Force Majeure. We will be entitled to deduct our service fee from any refund we receive on your behalf before remitting the balance to you. Suppliers’ fees are outlined in their relevant terms and conditions.
Supplier Terms and Conditions Summary:
- 100 days or more prior to departure will incur a loss of deposit.
- 99-61 days prior to departure will incur a fee of 50% of holiday package price.
- 60 days or less prior to departure will incur a fee of 100% holiday package price.
Changes to the Itinerary Not all attractions, excursions and/or optional tours are provided by the tour operator. Accordingly, tour operators may, where it is required to do so, suspend or cancel any tour inclusion where that tour inclusion is not available or in the opinion of tour operators, unadvisable, unsafe or unsuitable. During local or national holidays, certain facilities such as museums and restaurants, sightseeing tours and shopping may be limited or not available. Tour operators reserves the right to alter or change the accommodation, carriers or vessels at any time for any reason; and cancel or alter the itinerary and/or tour at any time without notice as Outback Aussie Tours considers necessary for any reason whatsoever including road, weather or traffic conditions, non-performance of suppliers, industrial action, operational conditions and requirements.

Are your tours suitable for pensioners aged 76 and 84 ?Yes, Tasmania tours passengers range from children to adult who are 90 years of age.
Transfer By Public Bus In Tasmania
Do you have any tours on offer during June, July or August ?Due to our off season of winter, no Tasmania tours operate during the months of June, July or August. The season starts in September and ends in May each year.
Is accommodation the night after the tour ends included in the price ?No, this accommodation will cost extra.
Is accommodation the night previous to the tour departure included in the price ?No, this Tasmania accommodation will be an extra cost.
Where is the meeting point for the start of tours ?The pick up is at the “before tour accommodation” hotel listed in the TRIP NOTES tabs of the specific tour you are looking at.
Do I need to arrive before Day 1 of my tour ?Please refer to your specific tour and look in the “Trip Notes” information where it may state this: You need to arrive any time the day prior to Day 1. If this is the case we can organise airport pick up and pre tour accommodation on your behalf, this will be an extra cost.
Other tours start late in the day on Day 1 so you can arrive that morning which will avoid the extra nights accommodation cost.

How do you calculate the number of days for your Tasmania tour ?If you are doing a 4 day tour commencing on April 8th, the first day of the tour is and includes the 8th, plus 9th, plus 10th plus 11th and the tour ends on April 11.
Do your tours operate over Christmas and New Year?Yes – this is one of our most popular and busiest times
Are airfares from my home town included in the cost of the tours ?Airfares to and from Tasmania at the start and finish of your tours are extra.
Do you have short tours that include Bruny Island ?No tours include a trip to Bruny Island, however many people add this on as a day trip from Hobart either before or are after their multi day tour.
Does the price include The Spirit Of Tasmania ship fares ?The 11 Day Tour to Tasmania includes the Ship costs one way.
