How to get here

Most of our tours depart Hobart CBD and drive 33km south to the Kettering ferry terminal. The Bruny Island ferry crossing of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel takes about 20 minutes to complete. Our full-day tours also include drop-off.

Attractions

  • Bruny Island Lighthouse is a 13-meter, convict-built dolerite tower that can be seen for 26 nautical miles when lit.
  • The Neck is a narrow isthmus of land that connects North and South Bruny. The Neck Game Reserve Lookout (Truganini) provides many a photo opportunity for Instagram. You can even see fairy penguins when they come in at sunset. Your best chance to see these penguins are in the warmer months (September – February).
  • Cape Bruny Lighthouse is the only lighthouse in Southern Tasmania that is open for tours. Most full-day tours, namely the Cape Bruny Lighthouse Tour, will take you through the 114m tower and nearby in search of the White Wallaby.

Natural Sightseeing

  • South Bruny National Park is renowned for towering sea cliffs and sea caves which can be witnessed up close on a boat cruise. Discover the natural wonders of Bridge Rock and Breathing Rock which is an impressive 10-metre-tall blowhole.
  • Seabirds feature heavily on Bruny to the delight of tourists and avid birdwatchers, including 12 species native to Tasmania. See the albatross in its glory as well as black currawongs and crescent honeyeaters.
  • Mavista Rainforest Walk located in Adventure Bay features a beautiful walking trail to the island’s only waterfall.

  • Bruny Island Cheese Co. is an artisan cheese producer and beer brewer offering delicious produce 7 days a week.
  • Bruny Island Honey aka The Honey Pot stocks premium honey varieties such as Leatherwood, and Manuka. They offer free tastings and have live bees in a glass observation hive.
  • Get Shucked Oysters is a fully licensed oyster bar with views of the oyster farm. If you’re in a rush, stop by the world’s first oyster drive-through!
