The start of your Tasmania tour packages up a complimentary transfer from Hobart Airport to your hotel for check-in. Then its “Welcome to Hobart” as you meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers to kick off your spectacular trip around Tasmania. Start with a tour to view the capital’s city sights. Hear about the first settlers, see original sandstone buildings still bearing the signature markings from the original convict labourers and visit the Botanic Gardens, see Battery Point and the original customs building, Constitution Dock, Brooke St Pier and more. The last stop is Mt. Nelson for amazing views over Hobart and the Derwent River. Tonight you’ll get to know everyone at a Welcome Reception and delicious meal at Restaurant Tasman.

2 Salamanca Market (B)
A free day to enjoy the sights, sounds, flavours, colour and action of Salamanca Market. Explore the market stalls, wander through the historic sandstone warehouses discovering innovative Tasmanian arts and crafts and delight in the taste and aroma of freshly baked goods and local produce, meeting the friendly people who make or grow what they sell. Take a moment to sit back and relax at one of Salamanca’s cafes and watch the world pass you by with a cooling ale or locally produced cider. This afternoon is a free afternoon for you to explore Hobart. Maybe join a walking tour with a local expert for fabulous insight in to Hobart’s history, people and places or even a guided walk to experience the alcohol history of the fascinating city. Alternatively, you may like to visit the Mawson’s Hut Replica Museum, where the Mawson’s Huts Foundation have left nothing to the imagination as they’ve done an incredible job replicating the hut Douglas Mawson built in Antarctica during his Australiasian Antarctic expedition of 1911-14.

3 Hobart – Strahan (B, D)
Journey west to magnificent Mt. Field National Park to see picturesque Russell Falls. Breath in the fresh moist air when you join your Travel Director for a stroll to the tiered falls through luscious green rainforest. Later take the winding journey to Lake St. Clair and the Wall in the Wilderness, a fascinating sculpture that artist Greg Duncan has hand-carved, depicting a series of scenes that commemorate those who have shaped the area’s past and present. Continue along the rainforest bordered road of World Heritage protected Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park through eerie Queenstown to coastal Strahan. Enjoy views of Macquarie Harbour from your hotel perched on the hillside.

A spectacular Gordon River Cruise, where the wilderness comes to the water’s edge, is the highlight of today. Stop at Sarah Island for insight into Tasmania’s lesser known convict history, the Macquarie Harbour Penal Settlement. See Hell’s Gate and Heritage Landing, site of the 2,000 year old Huon Pine. 5 Cradle Mountain (B, D)
This morning it’s time to explore the inspiring beauty of Cradle Mountain National Park and join your Travel Director for a guided walk around Dove Lake. Afterwards, maybe take a little more time to stretch your legs and meander back to Cradle Mountain Hotel through the wild ancient forests and alpine heathlands on the purpose-built boardwalk. You’re likely to spot Bennetts wallabies, echidnas and pademelons grazing along the way. For a more challenging hike, head to Marion’s Lookout and return via Wombat Pool.

6 Cradle Mountain – Launceston (B, D)
Did you know that Tasmanian whisky distillation was outlawed in 1838 and remained so for 154 years until the creation of a new law in 1992? This morning you’ll visit Hellyers Road Distillery for a guided walk through the working distillery to be shown the ingredients and processes that deliver one of the finest single malt whiskys in the world. Next up visit Sheffield, town of murals before heading on to sample the delights on offer at the award winning Ashgrove Cheese Factory. Continue through the Meander Valley to Tassie’s ‘northern capital’ Launceston.

7 Launceston (B, L)
This morning you’ll visit Cataract Gorge before you take a scenic country drive through the Tamar Valley’s rolling hills. Following this you will be welcomed to Josef Chromy Wines for a delicious lunch. The views from the surrounding vineyards and lakes provide an idyllic location to enjoy tasting some of the estate-grown cool climate wines and tucking in to some fresh local Tasmanian produce. This afternoon is free for you to relax or explore on your own or even a tour through James Boags Brewery. You may like to take an optional cruise on the Tamar River.

8 Launceston – Freycinet National Park (B, D)
Bridestowe Lavender Estate is your first stop today. Bridestowe has been growing lavender since 1922 when a London perfumer planted lavender seeds from the French Alps on his family estate which he named after his wife’s birthplace in England. Try some of Bridestowe’s lavender products and treat yourself to their famous lavender ice-cream! Later make a stop at the Legerwood Carved Memorial Trees, planted in honour of fallen WWI soldiers, then visit Pyengana Dairy Company. Learn about the history of the farm and cheese making in the Pyengana area before you taste a number of cheeses of different ages and flavours. Yum! After your lunch time stop at St Helens, follow the picturesque East Coast south to Freycinet Lodge, your accommodation for the next two nights.

9 Freycinet National Park - Wineglass Bay (B, L, D)
Another highlight day awaits you! Experience the exquisite beauty of Wineglass Bay on a four hour lunch cruise of the Freycinet Peninsula. The cruise will take you from the gentle shores of Coles Bay along the Freycinet coast beneath towering pink granite cliffs to one of the world’s best beaches. Anchored at Wineglass Bay, you’ll have the chance to absorb the beaty of the National Park and enjoy a gourmet Ploughman’s lunch. Later take a drive through dry eucalypt forests to Cape Tourville for a walk that will award you with stunning views of brilliant blue water, forest and golden beach as far as the eye can see.

10 Freycinet National Park – Hobart (B, MT)
Journey to historic Ross, considered the finest nineteenth century village in Australia.You must treat yourself to the self-proclaimed best scallop pie in Tasmania from one of the town’s two local bakeries, or if you’ve got more of a sweet tooth, visit the town’s other bakery for their famous vanilla slice! As you travel south through rich pastoral land towards Hobart, Anne Kernke custodian of Shene Estate wecomes you to ‘Be My Guest’, where you’re treated to a walking tour through the property’s stunning original buildings including the barn and stables, both a true reflection of early Australian architecture and the colonial era. Anne will also invite you in to her private family home where you’ll see an incredible collection of fine wares and admire intricate ceilings and original decor. Afterwards, sit down to a morning tea with a selection of home baked goodies. You will have the choice of visiting Australia’s largest privately funded museum, the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA). The eclectic mix of ancient, modern and contemporary art will blow you away. If you visit MONA you will cruise back to Hobart on the MONA ferry (99 steps to get to the ferry from MONA). Alternatively, you may wish to visit Mawson’s Huts Replica Museum or do the Hobart Walking Tour (2 hours)- history, people, places.

11 Port Arthur (B, D)
Explore Port Arthur Historic Site today. Cross Eaglehawk Neck to the Tasman Peninsula and enjoy a cruise around the Isle of the Dead and a fascinating guided walk of Port Arthur’s infamous convict prison. You’ll have time to wander the site at your leisure before you leave. See rugged sea cliffs from Pirate’s Bay Lookout, and feast your eyes on the amazing vistas of Tasman’s Arch, Devil’s Kitchen and the Blowhole on the drive back to Hobart. This evening celebrate your holiday with your fellow travellers at a Farewell Dinner in one of Hobart’s best restaurants!

Your Tasmania tour concludes this morning after breakfast. The last thing your Tasmania tour package includes is a complimentary transfer to Hobart Airport for your onward flight.

Travel documents for guided tours are delivered to the hotel or address you are staying at prior to your tour depending on the tour type chosen. We also provide you with a tour itinerary and arrival instructions by email, once we have all your flight information and personal details.
There is no set age or type of traveller, you can expect a wide-range of like-minded travellers. Families with children, young couples, baby boomers, solo travellers, small groups and more can be found on guided tours. There is certainly no age limit for touring, with children as young as 6 through to seniors travelling, however, the general demographic tends to be over 40.
Depending on the tour you choose and the time of year you are travelling our group sizes can vary from 20 people up to 49 people
The must-see and must-do experiences in all their tours but also offer you the ability to customise your tour with a selection of Optional Experiences. Details of Optional Experiences available will be sent with your final documents.

Low level of fitness is required. If your tour includes the walk around Dove Lake is considered a Moderate – Easy 6km loop. Not all guests will be able to complete the walk. Alternate short walks are available.
To allow everyone the opportunity to enjoy seats at the front of the coach, there is a seat rotation policy. This means that everyone changes seats daily during the course of the tour, and also means that you have the opportunity to meet new people throughout your journey.
Due to limited coach capacity, a single bag is allowed with dimensions not exceeding 30″ x 18″ x 10″ (76 x 46 x 25cm) and weight not exceeding 23kg (50lbs). Carry on hand luggage is restricted to one piece per person, not exceeding 12″ x 11″ x 6″ (30 x 28 x 14cm) to fit under your coach seat or in the small overhead compartment.
Suitcases with wheels are recommended, as there are certain places where assistance is not available (e.g. airports, railway stations and cruise terminals). Please note: that luggage with an adjustable handle and wheels will not fit in the overhead compartments and cannot be accepted as hand luggage.
Alternative arrangements should be made for forwarding excess baggage to the final destination prior to commencing your holiday.

Are your tours suitable for pensioners aged 76 and 84 ?Yes, Tasmania tours passengers range from children to adult who are 90 years of age.
Transfer By Public Bus In Tasmania
Do you have any tours on offer during June, July or August ?Due to our off season of winter, no Tasmania tours operate during the months of June, July or August. The season starts in September and ends in May each year.
Is accommodation the night after the tour ends included in the price ?No, this accommodation will cost extra.
Is accommodation the night previous to the tour departure included in the price ?No, this Tasmania accommodation will be an extra cost.
Where is the meeting point for the start of tours ?The pick up is at the “before tour accommodation” hotel listed in the TRIP NOTES tabs of the specific tour you are looking at.
Do I need to arrive before Day 1 of my tour ?Please refer to your specific tour and look in the “Trip Notes” information where it may state this: You need to arrive any time the day prior to Day 1. If this is the case we can organise airport pick up and pre tour accommodation on your behalf, this will be an extra cost.
Other tours start late in the day on Day 1 so you can arrive that morning which will avoid the extra nights accommodation cost.

How do you calculate the number of days for your Tasmania tour ?If you are doing a 4 day tour commencing on April 8th, the first day of the tour is and includes the 8th, plus 9th, plus 10th plus 11th and the tour ends on April 11.
Do your tours operate over Christmas and New Year?Yes – this is one of our most popular and busiest times
Are airfares from my home town included in the cost of the tours ?Airfares to and from Tasmania at the start and finish of your tours are extra.
Do you have short tours that include Bruny Island ?No tours include a trip to Bruny Island, however many people add this on as a day trip from Hobart either before or are after their multi day tour.
Does the price include The Spirit Of Tasmania ship fares ?The 11 Day Tour to Tasmania includes the Ship costs one way.
