  • 1 Arrive in Hobart (D)

Arriving in Hobart today guests can make their own way into town for our stay at the lovely 4-star rated and very comfortable Movenpick Hotel. This hotel is perfectly located and close walking distance to everything. For guests who arrive in time an optional pre-dinner yoga session at a local city studio is organised & included in your travel package.

Our welcome dinner tonight will offer a fantastic Hobart Harbour cruise experience. Enjoy a 3-course meal including a complimentary beer or wine aboard our lovely cruising vessel. The 2-hour package will ferry us around the harbour to see all the famous landmarks and provide interesting commentary on the history of Hobart and its surrounding geological features. This will be a great introduction to Hobart city and your hosts for the week – Morgan & Keith. Comprehensive tour itineraries and information portfolios will be provided for each guest along with a breakdown of what they can
expect on our travels in Tasmania.

    Accommodation: Movenpick Hotel, Hobart

  • 2 The Freycinet Peninsula (B L D)

After a delicious hot breakfast this morning we check out and head for Freycinet National Park on Tasmania’s east coast. Stopping at Raspins beach we will stretch our legs while taking in the sights of Maria Island across the Mercury Passage. Learn about the history of convicts on Maria Island and its unique geological features as we stroll.

Another quirky attraction is at Spikey Bridge before a morning snack stop at Kate’s Berry Farm. From here we overlook the entire Freycinet Peninsula and can spot landmarks on our exploration agenda for the coming days.

After a fantastic lunch at Freycinet Marine Farm, we head off to the main HWY to begin our trekking ventures in the Freycinet National Park. A 5km walk along the Friendly Beaches coastal track is a great way to energise ourselves and absorb the cleansing atmosphere of the east coast. At the finish point of our coastal walk, there is a stunning rocky headland named Isaacs Point, a great location for
our opening breathing and meditation session. Next, we arrive at the tranquil Freycinet Lodge where lovely cabin-style lodgings are our home for the next 3 nights. A delicious 2-course dinner at ‘The Bay’ restaurant is included and organised for our group.

    Accommodation: Freycinet Lodge

  • 3 Wineglass Bay Trek & Cape Tourville (B L D)

Begin our day with a sunrise, pre-breakfast breathing, and meditation session at Honeymoon bay just a short walk from our cabins.

After a delicious breakfast, we plan a trek into the world-famous Wineglass Bay. Its stunning white sandy beach and striking ‘wineglass’ shape make this one of the most postcard-friendly beaches in Australia. The demanding walk will reward us with amazing views over this beautiful area. After trekking right down onto the sand we will spend time taking in and enjoying this space. Dip your legs in the water or take a full swim if you prefer! The pure white sandy beach is a great place to reflect and relax our minds. Delicious beach snacks will be provided before our journey back across the peninsula.

On return to our vehicle, we take a short but very scenic drive up to the lighthouse of Cape Tourville. For those that choose not to tackle the Mt Amos Summit, this will be your highest vantage point within Freycinet NP. The lookout of Cape Tourville offers sweeping panoramic views over the peninsula. We might be lucky to see dolphins, seals, whales, or even orca from this spectacular vantage point. This afternoon will allow some free time to enjoy our accommodations in Freycinet at your leisure.

    Accommodation: Freycinet Lodge

  • 4 Water Taxi and Hazards Beach Trek (B L D)

Once again welcome your day in with a sunrise pranayama and meditation session at a thoughtfully selected nearby location.
This morning we have a scenic water taxi journey organised to ferry us to the southern end of Hazards Beach. From here will will take our time on the approximately 8km return trek which has a combination of sandy beach walking and incredibly scenic, well maintained trails. Our lunch today will be pre-packed so we can enjoy at a scenic point of our choosing along the trail, there are many appropriate spots to pick from.

On arrival back at Freycinet Lodge we will have the choice of some free personal time or a restorative Yoga session guided by Keith. Tonight we have another fantastic 2 course dinner planned at Lure, a local restaurant with possibly the best vantage point to watch the sun set over the Hazard Mountains we have just traversed. For those interested in evening social opportunities the bar in Freycinet Lodge is open late with a comfortable lounge area to relax & chat.

    Accommodation: Freycinet Lodge

  • 5 Mt Amos Summit or Ocean Paddle (B L D)

We continue with the theme of optional sunrise breathing sessions today which will be our last in Freycinet NP. This morning we have a choice of 2 great options depending on how physically & mentally charged you are feeling:

    – Mt Amos Summit Trek. This is a 3-4 hour return trek with some steep & strenuous sections. There are challenging open slab sections that require climbers to somewhat choose their own path and scramble with both hands on the rock face. On arrival at the summit, climbers are rewarded with amazing views over Wineglass Bay and down the peninsula to Mt Freycinet & Mt Graham. This is the best summit lookout on Tasmania’s east coast that can be done without overnighting on the trails.
    – 3-hour fully guided Sea Kayak experience. This incredibly scenic adventure is undertaken at a leisurely pace so anyone can participate.

On completion of our morning activities, we begin our return journey, of the Freycinet Peninsula. Stop at Devils Corner vineyard for a stunning view south over the national park from their recently constructed lookout facility. A little further along we lunch at the fantastic ‘Spring Vale Vineyard’ with beautiful grounds set right within the growing vines. Once again a glass of wine produced on
location will be included in the lunch package. Our return drive allows an opportunity to relax and contemplate as we travel stunning coastal roads.

We make an afternoon stop in the township of Richmond to see the iconic Richmond Bridge. Built by convict labourers in 1823 it is Australia’s oldest bridge still currently in use. Lastly, before returning to Hobart city we sample some handmade chocolates at an acclaimed local chocolate factory – Federation Chocolate. Arriving back in Hobart City around 5 pm we once again stay at the deluxe Movenpick Hotel. Dinner tonight is at your leisure. Being Friday night there are plenty of great restaurant options within easy walking distance.

    Accommodation: Movenpick Hotel, Hobart

  • 6 Salamanca Markets & Departure (B)

After a delicious hot breakfast at the lovely Movenpick hotel, we venture to the summit of Mt Wellington for stunning panoramic views over the Hobart Area. See for miles in every direction and take in the crisp air from 1270m above the harbour.

The world-famous Salamanca markets are held every Saturday and we wouldn’t want to miss them. After exploring the top of Mt Wellington, descend back into town to explore the market at your own leisure. Sample the abundance of street foods and wander the rows of market stalls showcasing great locally made artisan products, food & drinks.

This officially concludes our 6-Day Breath Wellness Retreat here in Tasmania. We are sure you will have enjoyed the experience of a lifetime and strengthened many friendships during our trekking challenges, taking home great memories, stories, and photographs.

Checkout from the Movenpick is at 11 am with options to store baggage for those with later afternoon flights. Options to extend your stay for additional nights are also available. Thank you for joining us!

Do I need to be Covid Vaccinated? All guests are required to be double vaccinated for COVID-19. Please discuss medical exemptions if required.
Tasmania Border Restrictions Please check current requirements at https://www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au/travellers-and-visitors/coming-to-tasmania

Who are Tassie Tours and Australian Tours & Cruises? We are an online travel agency based in Bathurst that specialise in Australian Destinations. We have several niche market brands and Tasmania Tours is one of them. Australian Tours and Cruises is the parent company.

Can I stay longer or come early? Of course, we can help you book places to go, extend your trip or join an add-on tour to get the most out of your trip.

Can you book my flights? Yes, we can book your flights if you would like us to. We will need to know where you are departing from and returning to and approximate times of travel, airline preference and any memberships you may have. We will then try to find the best deal for you.

Do I need travel insurance? We highly recommend travel insurance. While domestic travel insurance does not cover medical expenses in Australia, it provides cover for several other important benefits. Depending on the type of policy you buy, most domestic travel insurance plans for Australia offer coverage for expenses such as lost or damaged luggage, additional expenses, amendment or cancellation costs, sporting activities. Consideration needs to be given to our cancellation policy, injury, evacuation, delayed flights, illness, etc. We do not refund for such occurrences; travel insurance is your only safeguard. Our team will explain the policy e.g:
    • Do you have any special items of higher value that you want covered, e.g., cameras?
    • Do you have any pre-existing medical conditions?
    • Option of insurance for one trip only or an annual cover, depending on your needs.

Do I have to be part of a Yoga Group to go on this trip? Anyone is welcome to join this adventure, ask your family and friends if they would like to come along.

Do I have to join the classes? These are optional, the class will go ahead at the set times.

What if I do not want to do all the walks? You can choose to have a rest day and enjoy the beautiful area at the lodge. Please let your group leader know that you are having a rest day.

I have dietary requirements; can you cater for them? If you advise us of your dietary requirements (questions will be on your booking form) then dietary requirements will be catered for to the best of our ability. If your requirements change prior to travel, please let us know.

I am a single traveller, can I come? Of course, you are welcome. If you are willing to share a room, then we will try to match you to a room buddy to save you both some money (own rooms shared bathroom). If you prefer you own room or we are unable to find a buddy for you, a solo traveller supplement is required. Let us know on your booking form.

How many people in the group? Maximum of 20 people, minimum number is 12 people.

Some accommodation is different, how will you decide who gets which room? Those who book early will have a choice of room, once the rooms are sold out there will be less choice, prices may vary for different room types – you are asked your room preference on the booking form.

Mobile Phone Reception There may be limited phone reception, enjoy getting away from it all.

What contact number can I give to my family in case of an emergency? Please ask people to phone the Lodge Reception and leave a message for you on 61 3 6256 7222.

Health and Fitness Requirements. How fit do I need to be? You do not need to be an elite athlete to enjoy our walks. If you already enjoy activities such as walking, swimming, taking the stairs, playing golf etc. you are well placed to manage our walks. We recommend starting some more targeted training, including walking and stairs, in your daily routine leading up to the trip to ensure maximum enjoyment of the experience. There is time each day to sit and rest. Medical Forms and Doctors Certificates Guests with a pre-existing medical condition, including allergies, are required to disclose it on their booking form and may require a doctor’s certificate or complete a confidential medical questionnaire.

What style of boots should we have? You will need lightweight lace-up boots or walking shoes (waterproof shoes are recommended). Boots/shoes must be worn in to minimise the risk of blisters. Sandshoes, elastic-sided boots, street shoes and similar are not acceptable for these walks.

What do I carry each day? All you carry is a daypack containing your water (2L recommended), weatherproof jacket, and personal items, such as a camera and sunglasses.

Luggage Due to luggage space on the bus, pack as lightly as possible. Soft bags fit more easily than a hard case. You only carry a day backpack when trekking.

Do I need to provide my own yoga mat? If you would like to bring your own yoga mat you are most welcome, otherwise bring a towel for sessions.

What is the weather like and what if the weather is bad? One of the best times to walk in Tasmania is October. Check the weather forecast for Coles Bay a week before departure, if the weather is ominous, alternative plans will be made, walks modified, or alternative options provided.

Environmental Responsibilities Trekking is within the Wilderness World Heritage Area and National Parks. Please always act responsibly in terms of environmental care.
Authority On Tour Guides are responsible for group safety and operation of the tour. They have authority to do whatever is necessary to achieve these objectives, including the decision to refuse a guest to participate in a specific walk they deem would compromise the overall safety and/or interests of the group. The decision of the Guide is final on all matters likely to affect the safety or well-being of participants in the trip. If you fail to comply with a decision made by our Guide or interfere with the well-being or mobility of the group, the group leader may direct you to leave the trip immediately, with no right of refund.
